Dad
How do I write what I can't say
It's not that easy

You can dry my tears or make me smile

What can I do for you

I love you
There I said it

Such a friend you are

You're there for me
And I you

All I'm saying'

Will you always ... Be my friend

As hard as I try
It doesn't work

The words don't come out right

I take my pen
And try again

To put in words how

I need you
Please promise

Never to go away

You are my friend
Now to the end

Forever

And ever

You and I

You make me feel

Like I can do

Most anything

I hope I do
The same for you

You'll always

Yes always

Be a part of me

You'll be my friend ... You are my friend

my violin

he didn't know what to say
he even had to turn away
but when the words came out
this is what I heard

when I go take my violin
and play a song for me
when I go take my violin
and play one just for me

what would I do with a violin
I don't know how to play a thing
but I thanked him anyway
what else was I to say

he said it wasn't worth a dime
I said I hope it's never mine
he shrugged his head turned to me and said

yeah but when I go
take my violin
and play a song for me
when I go take my violin
and play one just for me

what should I play
just make it a melody
make it as sweet sweet as you and me

he didn't know what to say
he even had to turn away
but when the words came out
my father said to me

when I go take my violin and
play me a melody
when I go take my violin and
play one just for me
